Putting a bow in your hair, easy. Making a bow with your hair, not so much. Me and @SusieBenitez tried turning our hair into bows, through multiple attempts and leading to various results.
Based off of TikTok tutorials (which I later learned I did not follow properly) we did our best. Here is a guide for how you can make your hair into a bow as well as the results of mine and Susie's attempt.
How to Make a Bow with Your Hair
There are a lot of alternatives to try this with but these are the general steps you should take for success. And remember if you don't succeed at first, neither did we.
- Make a ponytail. This is the only easy step.
- Put a second hair tie lower on the ponytail.
- Take the section of hair between the two hair ties and split it open so there is a hole in the middle.
- Flip the bottom section of your hair through the hole.
- Okay this is the hard step. Flip the twisted section closer to your scalp to make the two puffs of the bow. I highly recommend watching several tutorial to figure this one out.
- Take the tail section of your hair and split it in half, wrapping each side around the puffs.
- Either braid or twist the two tail sections together.
- Flip the tail through the middle of the two puffs.
- Use hair ties, hair pins, whatever the heck is necessary to make your hair stay.
Voila! You should have a bow in your hair. Will it look good? Probably not until your tenth attempt.
My Hair Bow
I did my best to give y'all a tutorial. Please note that the video above was not my first attempt, so don't feel like you need to succeed. That being said, failing was kind of fun. It was great to try something new. The bow itself can look super cute when done right.
I used the Ultimate Detangling Brush from Tangle Teezer along with hair ties I bought at Rite Aid. If you are having trouble you may consider through in some bobby pins to collect the extra strands. Hair spray is another good option for making sure your bow actually lasts.

Susie's Hair Bow
"So the hair bow. I should have known it wouldn't go well because my hair only has three modes: buns, ponytails, and straight down. The only product I used was the two hair ties the look required and maybe that's where I went wrong? I'm happy that at least it looked so good on Gaby!"
