It was the photo that was heard around the world; Ryan Gosling as Ken in the upcoming Barbie movie, hair bleached, torso bare, in head to toe light wash denim. The frenzy that followed, along with the rest of the pictures of the Barbie cast in neon outfits and roller skates, meant one thing was absolutely clear: Barbie-core is back. And since the movie is only coming out in summer 2023, we'll have to busy ourselves with this challenge while we wait.

It was easy getting a few of our amazing creators to try out their very own Barbie-core makeup looks, especially since most of us have had a childhood infatuation with all things Mattel at least once in our lives. And some of us never grew out of it. So here are some of our takes on Barbie-core (and we can't wait to see yours)!

-edith-'s Barbie-core look

"My inspiration was drawn from my childhood and my relationship with barbies. Both looks reflect how barbie showed me to be glam but also kinda goofy. I got my inspiration from the classic 90s barbie which I used to play with for my modern Barbie look. The other look is inspired by Amy’s Barbie at the end of Toy Story 2. A wink at the fun/imperfect side of Barbie."

wicked_witch18's Barbie-core look

"I have always loved Barbie. I spent hours and hours playing with her and her friends when I was a child. Barbie stood for so many things. She was everything from a rock star to an astronaut! I based my look on things that make me think of Barbie; gems, sparkle, and pink, pink, pink!"

FlightQueen's Barbie-core look

"Growing up I was obsessed with Barbie! In my world she was the top fashionista because of the bright pinks and neon colors she always wore. Barbie has been and will always be the true “It Girl”. To create this look I used Unpredicted Beauty’s Unfazed World palette to bring that wow factor to my eyes and because Barbie was known for her pink lip color. I used the M2U NYC moisturizing lipstick in the shade Bubble Gum to tie everything together."

CHALLENGE: Create a Barbie-core makeup look! Everyone who participates in this challenge will earn 20 coins. The winner(s) will receive 100 Supercoins.
