No matter how old you get, fall will always feel like a fresh beginning. It’s the back-to-school season that is ingrained in us all. It’s the excitement of buying new school supplies like a fresh box of crayons or crisp notebooks. It’s the ability to reinvent yourself with a new wardrobe and a new set of classmates.
This is my first back-to-school season not going back to school (and given the pandemic, it might be yours too) and it feels a little weird not buying new pens or a new backpack. But I found something that’s better than buying new school supplies—and that’s stocking up on the latest launches in beauty.
Fall is my favorite time to buy new skincare products because the focus is on hydration, since colder temperature tends to dry out the skin. As a dry skinned gal, that’s just what I need...It’s also a great time to stock up on makeup products in warm tones that remind me of sweater weather and hot comfort foods.
If you’re looking for a fresh start this fall, here’s a list of the latest and greatest beauty launches you need to add to your beauty routine.
1. Cleanser: Tatcha The Rice Wash
Washing your face with rice water is nothing new. For centuries Japanese women have been washing their faces and scrubbing their scalps with the vitamin and mineral-rich water. This trend has even existed on this side of the globe for several years now. I’d be lying if I said Tatcha was the first to introduce a rice water cleanser, but if you’re looking to try out this skin-softening ingredient, Tatcha’s The Rice Wash also contains hyaluronic acid and an algae blend to keep your skin moisturized as the temperature drops and the air gets drier this fall.

2. Mask: Loops Sheet Masks
Loops is a face mask brand that’s making skincare regimen’s simple, effective, sustainable and fun, but don’t take my word for it. Read Supergreat Editor Savannah’s glowing review that shines almost as bright as her skin after using Loops:
“Loops is one of those brands that's all over my Instagram explore page, and so I was a little curious. I got a bag of them to try, and when I say bag I really mean bag—they shipped in this cute clear makeup bag that I've since started storing extra shampoo and conditioner in. They have a very satisfying jelly consistency and the fact that they come in two separate pieces actually does solve the age-old problem of not being able to eat or talk while wearing a mask. My boyfriend has facial hair and he only wore the top half, so it was perfect for that. They have tons of different masks that address different problems, and although I didn't notice different effects, I did always peel them off and feel hydrated and a little glowy.”

3. Acne Treatment: Starface Lift Off Pore Strips
Unfortunately, acne doesn’t care what season it is. Blackheads, specifically, will pop up on your nose uninvited no matter the weather. While Bioré has dominated the pore strip game for some time now, we are excited to give Starface’s Lift Off Pore Strips a try. Big Yellow’s face covers the strip so it looks more like a fun bandaid than a broken nose cast. Each pore strip is also formulated with witch hazel leaf extract, aloe leaf extract, allentoin, silica, and butylene glycol to soothe and hydrate your skin after extracting a galaxy of gunk from your nose.

4. Serum: Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum
It’s still plum season, which runs from May through October. If you’re obsessed with the juicy sweetness of this fruit, you’ll fall in love with the hydrating and blurring effects of Glow Recipe’s Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Plums are rich in antioxidants and this plumping elixir contains three different types of plums to hydrate and nourish the skin. It also contains five molecular weights of hyaluronic acid so that the holy grail of hydrating ingredients can penetrate the skin at every level to diminish the appearance of fine lines and boost a youthful glow.

5. Mist: Peach and Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist
The glass skin trend will never shatter. Peach and Lily’s Glass Skin Refining Serum has been flying off the digital shelves since it launched in 2018. It has sold out more than 12 times and one Glass Skin Serum is sold every three minutes, according to Peach and Lily. With all that success, a follow-up product was bound to come along. Peach and Lily’s Glass Skin Veil is the complementary mist version of the serum. It provides the same hydrating and pore refining benefits, but in an easy application that is perfect for on-the-go misting.

6. SPF: Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer SPF 30
Just because it’s fall, doesn’t mean sunscreen can fall out of your morning skincare routine. A good SPF is a MUST no matter the season. Thankfully, Rihanna graced us with an SPF that will keep our skin moisturized and protected on our brisk autumn walks. The best part? This Hydra Vizor by Fenty Skin works on all skin tones. Of course, we would expect nothing less from the woman who showed the beauty industry that shade inclusivity and diversity are not only possible but profitable.

7. Mascara: Kosas The Big Clean Mascara
Normally, when a new mascara launches, no one bats an eyelash, but the internet has been buzzing about The Big Clean Mascara by Kosas ever since it launched in August. Like nearly every mascara on the market, The Big Clean Mascara promises big, fluffy lashes with lots of volume, but what makes Big Clean different is its focus on lash care. It’s formulated with castor oil, provitamin B5, and biotriyl tripeptide-1 to nourish and strengthen lashes. I bet your drugstore mascara can’t do that.

8. Foundation: Rare Beauty Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation
Foundation range is EVERYTHING and honestly, sometimes it’s a great indicator of whether or not a brand is worth your time and money, which is why we were relieved to learn that Selena Gomez’s new makeup line features 48 shades. Liquid Touch is a medium to full-coverage foundation that feels lightweight and melts into your skin. The bottle is very chic too. We can’t wait to get our hands on it this fall!

9. Blush: Lauren Conrad Beauty Lip + Cheek Tint
We love a good lip and cheek product. The cream formula stays in place during sweaty summer days and hydrates the skin during the colder months. In case you’ve ever questioned how much the Supergreat staff loves lip and cheek products, we dedicated a whole editorial to our favorite ones, but we might have to update it with a new favorite. Lauren Conrad Beauty launched in August with all the essentials including a Lip + Cheek Tint in the shade Peony. It’s a dusty pink that’s perfect for the summer to fall transition.

10. Lip Cream: Buxom Full-On Fall Gloss Lip Polish & Cream Collection
It isn’t autumn without some sort of pumpkin spiced latte scented something. This fall that something is Buxom’s Full-On Fall Gloss Lip Polish and Cream Collection. This collection features four pink and nudes shades available in two scents (pumpkin spiced latte and spiked apple cider). Our brand partnerships manager, Anthoni, tested out each shade and scent and they love it. “It’s the OG Buxom plumping formula, but with a fall twist,” they said. Not only are the warm tones perfect for fall, but the scent and formula are like coating your lips in a cozy blanket made from your favorite autumn treats.

11. Lip Gloss: Tower 28 ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly
No one said translucent glosses are a summer lip product, but for some reason it feels wrong to apply them in the fall. Tower 28 seems to agree because this beachy brand designed for sensitive skin just released a line of semi-sheer glosses. The ShineOne Milky Lip Jelly collection features four glosses in the shades mauve pink, rosey brown, peachy pink and chocolate. Just like the original ShineOne Lip Jelly, the Milky Lip Jelly is formulated with five nourishing oils to soothe and hydrate your lips. We can’t wait to get our hands on these new glosses so we can make the swap!

12. Nail Polish: Cirque Colors Tortoise Shell Nail Art Set
Tortoise shell pops up every fall on the hardware of handbags and accessories, but there’s finally a way to easily apply this trend to your nails thanks to Cirque Colors. Our resident nail art expert, Sable, introduced us to Cirque Colors when she wrote this editorial showing us how she achieved the sophisticated tortoise shell print…? pattern...? texture...? on her nails. “The key is that the polish is a jelly formula,” she said. “The slightly sheer finish allows you to layer them over and over again without getting gloopy or too textured looking.”

13. Curl Defining: Seen Curly Creme
You probably know by now, anything that touches your hair will eventually touch your face, and that may be why your skin is breaking out. Hair products typically aren’t formulated with the skin in mind (unless it’s the scalp) because they’re only meant to go on your gorgeous locks, but when your hair brushes against your cheek or you sleep on the same pillow night after night, hair products tend to transfer to the skin and cause breakouts. Luckily, Seen offers noncomedogenic hair products and their latest launch was the Curly Creme for all you curly girls.

14. Dry Shampoo: Ouai x Byredo Super Dry Shampoo
It’s back to school season! Whether you’re going to school in person or attending online classes this fall, chances are you’re waking up with just enough time to do your morning routine before heading to class. Hair washing probably isn’t at the top of your to-do list when you’re in a rush. Lluckly, Ouai’s Super Dry Shampoo is a life saver in these situations. This fall, Ouai partnered with Byredo to provide a dry shampoo and hair perfume in one using Byredo’s most popular scent Mojave Ghost to keep your hair smelling and feeling fresh.

15. Hair Oil: Dae Prickly Pear Hair Oil
If your hair is dry as a desert in the colder months, help it find some hydration with Dae’s Prickly Pear Hair Oil. Prickly Pear is a type of cacti native to the desert regions of North and South America. It’s made up of 88% water so this ingredient knows a thing or two about moisture. Apply it to dry stands or wet strands to reduce frizz and repair breakage. You can even apply this hair oil to dry patches of skin to revitalize them overnight. Is there anything this hair oil can’t do?!
