Caudalie is a French skincare brand famous for their line of grape-oriented skincare. SG loves Caudalie, so we asked you guys to add your reviews of your favorite products. We rounded up your answers and found the 10 best Caudalie products to buy.
The brand was founded by Mathilde Thomas and her husband Bertrand and the name comes from the unit of measure for how long the flavors of a wine linger in the mouth; one Caudalie is equivalent to one second. In 1993, the couple met Professor Joseph Vercauteren in Bordeaux during the harvest of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, her family's vineyard. The professor allegedly told them "Do you know that you're throwing away treasure?" when he noticed a pile of grape seeds they weren't using. Turns out, grape seeds are full of PCOs (procyanidolic oligomers), which are very effective in fighting free radicals.
Two years later, the couple launched Caudalie with three products, all of which contained grape seed polyphenols with anti-ageing properties. In 1999, they opened their first Vinothérapie Spa at Château Smith Haut Lafitte, the vineyard where it all began.
