Despite the great serum debate of 2019 when people argued for days on social media whether the so-called “elixirs of life” should be applied before or after moisturizer (before), serums are still a mystery to many, myself included. In order to maximize the benefits of the magic ingredients in each little dropper, you have to know how to apply them correctly, especially if you are applying more than one.
Serums should be the first thing you apply after cleansing and exfoliating your face. As the product with the thinnest consistency and the smallest molecules, serums absorb into the skin easier than any other skincare product. If you are applying more than one serum (limit yourself to three), massage or pat them into your skin in order of consistency from thinnest to thickest. Then wait a minute or two before applying your moisturizer to give your skin enough time to soak up as much as it can before adding a moisturizer to the mix. Also, some serums contain ingredients that can actually harm your skin when exposed to ultraviolet rays so it’s best to apply your serums at night or cover your face with a strong SPF before leaving the house in the morning.
At this point, there is a serum for every skincare woe from acne scars to wrinkles. We know it can seem overwhelming, that’s why we’ve rounded up the best serums for 2020 according to your reviews. Keep reading to learn m
