Let's fix that!
Kennedy Cymone AKA SimplyKennedy's approach to beauty is in the name: it's simple. But as we've learned time and time again on this app, a bare-boned routine works out pretty well for a lot of lucky people. Watch a few reviews by this beauty and you'll see that everything seems to be working pretty well for her skin. It's glowing, flawlessly balanced between dewy and matte, and seemingly poreless. Must be nice!
We spoke to Cymone about her favorite beauty products, her upcoming beauty line KCK Collection, and the layers and layers of moisturizing creams that go into her nighttime skincare routine.
When I first wake up in the morning, I always use a makeup wipe, specifically Neutrogena, and I take off any excess makeup that I didn't get off the night before. Then I'll go in with my Neutrogena Foaming Cleanser.
After I wash that off I'll just use the Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream and then the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I'll put that on any spots I think I need more hydration and it's usually around my nose area and where I get dry skin.
I keep my shower routine pretty simple. I just use Dove body wash soap, and I have a St. Ives Body Scrub that I like to use to exfoliate. After I love cocoa butter—I always use some type of cocoa butter.
I love OGX products, I use their shampoo and conditioner. It’s super moisturizing and I wear a lot of wigs so I like to use the Got2Be Gel and the Freezing Spray to hold down my wig. Then if I’m putting heat on my hair, I love the Chi Heat Protectant. It smells really good. I usually go and get my hair done at the salon but if I'm doing it myself, I usually use those products. If not, I usually go to Hair Queen LA and I get wigs installed there.
I usually go get them done at the salon and I love getting either stiletto shaped or coffin shaped and I usually like to get them pretty long too. During the fall time I like to just wear matte colors but then in the summertime I like to add bling and stuff. Right now I just have on the Bubble Bath Pink by OPI. My salon is called Q-Nails.
I just got a new scent from Louis Vuitton, it's called Mille Feux. I love scents from Victoria’s Secret or Bath and Body Works too, I've been wearing Sweet Pea for years.
First I start off with primer. I like to use the Angel Veil Primer by NYX. Your makeup look just doesn't look the same without a primer. After that I go in with Tarte's Foundation and then I use the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer.
Then I usually do liquid liner. I don't like to wear eyeshadow on an everyday basis, but I like to use the NYX liquid liner, it's super black and matte. Then I just go in with mascara. I don't really have a specific mascara brand because I wear lashes so it doesn't really matter. I have my own brand of lashes called KCK Collection. I have nine different styles so I like to switch it up depending on how my makeup is for the day.
After that I'll fill in my brows. I like to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel, then I’ll clean them up and conceal them with the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. After that I’ll just apply some lip gloss. I love the Burt's Bees lip gloss, it’s super hydrating and it smells really good. They have a clear one and they have one that has a pink shade to it. I have both because I always lose them.
For lipstick I'm actually coming out with my own range with my KCK Collection. So if I was going for a bold lip, I would go for a bold red and I have a red shade in my collection. It will have four matte liquid lipsticks and four lip glosses. We’re planning to launch around my birthday, which is on the 29th of November.
I use the Smashbox highlight kit, it has four different highlighters in it. Sometimes I'll use a silver shade or gold shade. I use a Smashbox blush too, it’s a bronzer and blush duo. After that I'll set my face with the Urban Decay setting spray.
First I use my Neutrogena makeup wipes to take everything off. I know it’s probably not good for your skin, but then I like to use Vaseline and I put it all over my face. I feel like it breaks up the makeup a lot easier and I use a washcloth and take off all the Vaseline. Then I'll use the same cleansing products that I use for my morning routine, but I do it twice to make sure my skin is extra clean before I go to bed.
Then I use the Cetaphil moisturizer, the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream and then Cetaphil Hydrating Eye Gel-Cream. Last step is wrapping my hair up with a silk scarf and bonnet.
